I've only seen the downfall parodies, so I don't think I picked it up from that. Stirs some memory though.

Reference was familiar enough I knew I had run across it before (I think it was actually in the Stephen King story 'Apt Pupil', a reference Denker makes) but not familiar enough I actually knew it.
