Some of my acquaintences who are rational and calm people think the Trump assassination attempt was staged. I've been processing that.
I cannot blame them. Sure there's enough dots to connect, but the biggest dot is Trump and the phenomena around him. Trump is basically a showman and has shown no reason to be trusted. If some investigation came out and reliably said "this was fake" there would be LITTLE surprise (and people on Trump's side saying "it was needed.").
That's where we are.

Some "rational and calm people" will have to explain to me how you get some nebbish nursing assistant to volunteer to get murdered by the Secret Service.
Because that part strikes me as neither "rational" nor "calm". It strikes me a paranoid ideation in the service of wishful thinking.
