I figured out my issue with this week's #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds:
Uhura, like Spock, Pike, M'Benga, Chapel, & Sam will always be okay. There's no actual risk. This is why I say SNW plays it too safe. #Spoiler, I guess, if a character surviving a prequel is a spoiler.
@Stephenstrek they could go crazy and kill off characters willy-nilly but in the final episode have Spock wake up in the shower with Bob Newhart and realize it's all been a dream...
