#help GF is having a full-on meltdown because she's watched the Macy's Parade her whole life and we recently got Xfinity wifi, I think the guy used our coax cable that went from an antenna on the roof to install it, because that cable was already established coming through the floor, so now we have no reg antenna tv. The NBC and CBS apps want over 5 bucks (I suggested them to mirror to tv) Is there another way to watch it
@Amyfb Yep, so far I have the USA Today streaming from youtube. Thank you
@StephanieResists possibly youtube
It shows as being on USA Today's channel, but it seems kind of lacking commentary from the usual talking heads.
It looks like it might be just some dork's personal stream tho
@FernLovebond Thanks, this is the one I got to work so far. Maybe it'll be good enough for her, lol
I can't see a way around the paywalls that isn't just flat violation, so I won't suggest such a thing, but if she just has to have the Al Roker experience, I'm sorry cuz that ain't it, heh.
Hope your holiday is still good. If it were me, I'd ask her to tell me what about that tradition she liked best, how she felt about it, memories she had of it. Maybe reminiscing would help make this less talkey version of the parade more enjoyable for her.
Best wishes.
@FernLovebond I think from what she has said so far, it's because her mom (who's in assisted living with dementia) always had it playing in the background, and her auntie (whom she was very closeand is deceased) did as well. It's a connection to her better times and childhood I believe. Thank you
Oh, YW, and thanks for sharing. You needn't take the time to update me, tho: I just wanted to try & make it special for her by suggesting that you engage with her feelings about it. Sometimes when I feel disappointed I can't do things, reminiscing about what I like about it can help 🙂
Hey, not any kind of news org, this person seems to have better view and less wind than the US News one:
@FernLovebond Thanks! This one looks good, I turned it on for her on the smart tv and she likes it.
Peacock, Hulu + Live TV, Paramount+, YouTube TV and fuboTV are streaming it.
You can also watch it using any browser on NBC.com
@StephanieResists Try this Unplug the coax cable and get a large paperclip. Straighten it out to form an "L" shape and plug it in to the coax plug on your TV. Don't worry, you won't get shocked or anything. You'll have an olf fashioned antenna.
@StephanieResists Did you try youtube or tiktok for someone who might be live streaming?
