Sooo I might have nipped off more than I can chew by writing a pretty harsh message about hate speech, and spreading misinformed hurtful statements about the LGBTQ and transgender people in general towards my pastor godbrother. (I normally live and let live, but he went a step too far recently with some of his content shares.) Should I share the six paragraphs I wrote here? #LGBTQ #Activism #FuckHate
(Here goes!) Good Christianity doesn't control the lives of those around them. It builds understanding, and collaborative effort to still live by their own doctrine while living in peace. Stop trying to push us, many of the non-christian people don't believe in heaven or hell, or have some other destination following death. Work on the you now, not the you for then. And most importantly, fight back against oppression. Jesus did in the good book, so should you. /1
Question what seems wrong, hurts others, or labels others as the Other, always. Because that is what is undoing your very good bibles teachings. The good book you live by teaches you to love all, help the needy, shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, and spread the wealth to help those that are poor themselves. /2
It does not, however, teach you about whether someones choice of gender identity is wrong, or how living to love whomever you love is wrong, but this is the impressions that most Christian folk I've met in recent days seems to believe. /3
Many of the translations were done by the hands of men in power, and under command of people in power, so the original texts are probably a lot more true to today's era of strife and struggle than what is widely known in the current edition of the christian holy pages./4
Transgender people are in danger right now across this very nation, targets to extremists that believe that we should die. Except no one asks the critical questions of why, only base it off of beliefs and lies that others have portrayed us wrongly with. Gender affirming care harms no one, and provides everyone necessary treatment aligned with the gender they identify as, yes, including men, and women in this./5
Denying that is only going to harm the medical practice AND patients nation wide. It doesn't matter the age, the care is needed to stop patients from taking routes that could end in death, something that all medical practitioners work against seeing happen.
The hippocratics oath even states this./6
No child is harmed by being given the treatment they need, puberty blockers are necessary to help slow the maturity rate of their body to give them time to decide on whether they should transition or not, and through this time they are given boundless support from not just their medical care professionals but from counselors, teachers, friends, and the LGBTQ community. /7
We care about their lives, we care that they live and thrive and florish as they mature into adulthood. Many of us are parents ourselves, and ripping apart families like some states are doing (Looking at you Florida, Indiana, Montana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri, GQP evil ignorant bastards....) is not the solution./8
For some clarity, I'm tired of reading the lies, and misinformation and hate that people speak heedlessly of those closest to them that they can and do harm. Educate yourself, ask questions, and stop spreading what you do not have solid proofs of, because this is why people die to hate./9
@Graci Thank you, I hope that he takes my words with an open heart because I don't mean to be hurtful in what I say to him, he's been nothing but kind, but his recent shares on FB has me really concerned about whether he's going down the right wing rabbithole.
@PaganMother sometimes you have to nudge, other times you have to use a 2x4.
Remember this well, speak out against hate, or that hate will harm those you love, it's a double edged sword and can hurt both ways if left to swing freely. Stop it, by stilling the blade. Quiet the hate, by teaching them it's wrong and why.10/10
Now he hasn't replied yet, but I think I gave him a good bit to chew on mentally. What do you think? Could I have worded this better, or changed any phrasing choices?
