#YOUTUBERS Can I have your eyes for a moment please? Some of us would like to request that you blur our toots on here from readability in your videos if you are streaming or recording for reviews here. We do love having new folks drop in but do try to keep in mind our privacy needs here. Personally, I'm generally pretty shy of media presence, as someone with social anxiety among other problems, I'm requesting a bit of kindness and respect for our privacy here. Thank you. #PSA
@Myrth Yep, Jester mentioned it and I did a bit of a prod at YT to see what I can do. I'm not too happy with the fact so many user names and toots are visible in some of them.
@PaganMother what a genuine polite direct respectful and honest ask...I hate that I am in awe of it...I think it is what the world is missing right now
@Hopeful I just hope that others feel the same, this place was founded on the idea of upholding each other's privacy while still maintaining a community/neighborhood feel for all of us.
It probably needs saying on YT, tho, which will be a right pain having to police that!
Can't believe anyone would think it's okay to breach privacy like that, tbh.
@TheStorySmith I may have been keeping an eye on YouTube videos for this reason recently.
Thanks for mentioning this.
I have not made any YT vids that include toots from coso, but, if I were to do so, I must admit that I have no clue how to blur the images.
I know I could google the answer, but I'm betting most folks never even think of it as a choice to make while creating their video "masterpiece".
Hope your message gets out to the folks who need to hear it!
@PaganMother i make YT videos but never include any real names or faces without permission. I will be doing on a language Discord per admin request and made it clear to them I would blur the names, since they said it was ok to show pictures of the server. I rarely shoot video nor stills of people unless they are in silhouette because to me it feels rude
@JeniRizio Thank you, I know a lot of reviewers that don't take that measure for securing privacy. It's appreciated, truly.
@PaganMother gladly
I don't make react videos and tend to shy from them
I did write an article where I quoted someone saying something rather unkind but did not name them nor their company. It was their behaviour I was pointing out, and I wanted to make it clear that I was not throwing shade nor starting drama
@PaganMother what if they are only alerting about a you tuber needing help?
@Horrrflmlvr That should be alright, but blurring posts and user names would be a good move for everyones privacy to be maintained here. Youtube is a pretty big space with little to no moderation of who sees what, especially with the scripting of their algorithm.
@PaganMother I didn’t know that’s a thing, making #YouTube videos about #CoSo!
