Oh, my gawd. Look at the size of that fly. Have never seen one like that before. The lattice strip it's sitting on is about 1.25 inches wide. That #fly is HUGE.

The horse flies I've seen before have been yellowish. I've never seen a black one!
@GeezerWench Although if I were to make a bug drone a horse fly would be a good choice. Most don't mess with them.
