Elected officials from the Republican Party and their supporters are openly and brazenly urging armed overthrow of the #USA government (this week at NY Republican group). Why were they not rounded up and charged with sedition (like in Germany & other countries recently)? America has lost its way … #Politics #International

The #USA does need more explicit laws about overthrowing democracy. As you say, it can learn from other countries that have dealt with this before — a high priority for the US Senate before the government collapses. #Politics
@OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything @peterquirk @Oma_Trisha @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth tbh, domestic terrorism statutes should have been enacted after OKC. But everyone wanted to treat it as an isolated incident rather than a warning.

"FREE SPEECH" doesn't include armed insurrection. We need to clarify Domestic Terrorism/Sedition to include "words can kill"

@QueenOfEverything @OldCountryDoctor @peterquirk @Oma_Trisha @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth we don't even have a "hate speech " statute on the books because civil rights attorneys argue that it would be a violation of the First A.
Meanwhile, Germany outlawed possession of any and all Nazi paraphernalia, including the flag
@OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything @peterquirk can you name the specific law they broke?
European countries have those laws because they have more of a history of domestic terrorist incidents than we do.
We don't even have a statue on the books because we can't come to a consensus on how to define it.
The Mark Meadows texts may go a long way in changing that.
