@peterquirk We need a massive FLUSH down to local PDs and sheriff depts.

@peterquirk

The public members of Oath Keepers & Proud Boys seem like the tip of the ice burg... what we're not taking action on are the far-right paramilitary true believers in law enforcement & govt- including Senators & Congress Reps that continue to flood social media with hate speech, guns & ChristoFascism.

@QueenOfEverything @peterquirk
Elected officials from the Republican Party and their supporters are openly and brazenly urging armed overthrow of the government (this week at NY Republican group). Why were they not rounded up and charged with sedition (like in Germany & other countries recently)? America has lost its way …

@OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything @peterquirk can you name the specific law they broke?
European countries have those laws because they have more of a history of domestic terrorist incidents than we do.
We don't even have a statue on the books because we can't come to a consensus on how to define it.
The Mark Meadows texts may go a long way in changing that.

The does need more explicit laws about overthrowing democracy. As you say, it can learn from other countries that have dealt with this before — a high priority for the US Senate before the government collapses.

@OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything @peterquirk @Oma_Trisha @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth tbh, domestic terrorism statutes should have been enacted after OKC. But everyone wanted to treat it as an isolated incident rather than a warning.

@Darkenyght1701 @OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything @peterquirk @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth

Because, after all, we are the most powerful country on the face of the earth, so who can hurt us? /sarcasm

@Oma_Trisha @OldCountryDoctor @QueenOfEverything @peterquirk @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth it's not the foreign adversaries we need to worry. about. When this country dies,.we'll do it to ourselves

@OldCountryDoctor @Darkenyght1701 @peterquirk @Oma_Trisha @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth

"FREE SPEECH" doesn't include armed insurrection. We need to clarify Domestic Terrorism/Sedition to include "words can kill"

2388.Activities affecting armed forces during war.

2389.Recruiting for service against United States.

2390.Enlistment to serve against United States.

[2391.Repealed.]

@QueenOfEverything @OldCountryDoctor @peterquirk @Oma_Trisha @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth we don't even have a "hate speech " statute on the books because civil rights attorneys argue that it would be a violation of the First A.
Meanwhile, Germany outlawed possession of any and all Nazi paraphernalia, including the flag

@Darkenyght1701 @QueenOfEverything @OldCountryDoctor @peterquirk @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth

The "rugged individualism" that allowed us to colonize this country has devolved into apathy and blatant selfishness. It will be our downfall if we don't do something.

@Oma_Trisha @QueenOfEverything @OldCountryDoctor @peterquirk @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth that had nothing to do with the original colonists. The Puritans came here to escape religious persecution.
If you mean the westward expansion, that " rugged individualism " was a figleaf to.cover for genocide.

@Darkenyght1701 @QueenOfEverything @OldCountryDoctor @peterquirk @FreezyWriter @grapho @Myriacanth not even close. The Puritans came here because they wanted to be free to perpetuate their extremist views and establish a theocracy. They wanted to limit voting rights in America to congregation members in good standing. They were being persecuted because the Church of England didn't agree with their radical ideology.

@KGinKS @peterquirk

Supreme Court Justices are notoriously bad at policing themselves. Ethics, conflicts of interest, political influence?
