B is for baseball, once summertime fun
But parental hijinks ensure there’ll be none

@cassandra17lina it's really too bad on so many levels that children are not allowed to do anything without being under adult supervision & control at all times.

i'm kinda shocked CPS never showed up at my door for letting kiddo run loose (but they did threaten to take him when he was 2 & i refused to put him in the DD preschool. they said he was "too attached". i told them to bring it on. i wasn't some scared 19 year old. i was 47. i know lawyers)

Growing up in the '50s there was no supervision we just went out and played until the streetlight came on or heard mom yelling our name from the front porch :)

@NorthernInvader @redenigma Same in the 1960s. I rode my bike everywhere, didn’t get lost, hurt, or pregnant. There are far more perils nowadays but I am shocked at the lengths parents go to track every move their children make. The COLLEGE age son of my husband’s golf buddy went to Italy as his graduation gift and his MOM decided to tag along and drag his FATHER. Fun. WTF is wrong with these people??

@cassandra17lina @NorthernInvader in elementary school my son had a friend, Natalie. Natalie's mom bummed around Europe on her own for 2 years after high school. she had a great time, but said she'd never let Natalie do it. why? isn't she raising a smart, competent daughter?

@NorthernInvader @cassandra17lina that was the norm up until the 90s, when "stranger danger" became a reality tv hit. strangers snatching children is a vanishingly rare occurrence, but it has always happened. those 90s tv shows made it seem like hundreds of kids per day went missing
