My 97-year-old mother has been asking me to bake her mother’s signature gingerbread cookies. I never made them before, fearing they’d never be the same as my grandmother’s. Every year, my sister-in-law makes them, and frankly, they’re just awful. The taste is bland, the cookies dry and overcooked. I think that’s why my mom asked me to try. I made the dough yesterday and the cookies today and they turned out GREAT. Shipped some out to my family members who may not be able to gather due to COVID.

@NorthernInvader I’ll have to retype it - the original is in my grandmother’s very shaky and faint handwriting. I’ll try to post it in a day or two. I wanted to try if first to be sure it “worked.”

@NorthernInvader OK… I just retyped the recipe and posted it as a reply - here is is again. Good luck!

@cassandra17lina awesome, thanks. As a borderline Type 2 diabetic I'm glad to see there is no sugar and only a small amount of mollasses

@NorthernInvader there’s brown sugar, but I have successfully made other recipes substituting Truvia for sugar, entirely or in part.

@cassandra17lina I completely missed that (old age sucks) I'll use stevia
