Tried to watch this last night. It wa too hard for my good mood. Will have to prepare for that much anger and hostility!
This was a huge thing here! Synanon was touted as a great thing…until they weren’t. I hope those who experienced this group recovered fully.
Hadn’t thought about them for decades until a friend and I had a lovely vaca at one of their former compounds. #Synanon #Cults
I knew Synanon people in the late 70s (1979), a couple of 'em.
Those people, and their delusional toxic thinking, were fucking dangerous.
@countZZero they absolutely were! Such a toxic atmosphere. I’ve never understood people being susceptible to this or Est.
Had a few friends who were briefly into Est…I thought they were idiots for wasting money on stuff they knew already. But at least Werner’s abuse wasn’t the Synanon type.
@NorCalCherylLyn @countZZero When I was about 7 most of my neighborhood got into EST at least the ones that weren't uptight christians! It was strange times even at my young age I could see it! Synanon I read about and in early recovery in the 90s I met people that had survived programs that used their methods!
@Tattoomonkey29 @countZZero it really was strange to watch intelligent people pay to figure out stuff that they already were aware of. The whole thing didn’t make sense to me. 🤦🏻♀️
@NorCalCherylLyn @countZZero Funny how culty trendy stuff works on humans right?
@Tattoomonkey29 @countZZero it really is! I think it’s our herd mentality driving us to what everyone else is doing. I’m not that much of a follower! 😄
@NorCalCherylLyn @countZZero I'm not either, I generally see the herd move and try to go a different way!
@Tattoomonkey29 @countZZero lol, usually safer that way!
@Tattoomonkey29 @countZZero tee hee…same here. 😄
@NorCalCherylLyn @countZZero Great minds 😘
