I'm sure I have said this before, but using the slur "MAGAt" says more about you than it does about them.

It also does them a favor. Dehumanizing their opponents is a core strategy, and you're playing into that strategy when you do the same.

Some of you seem to be missing the point. MAGA is fueled by an "us vs. them" mentality, and anyone who isn't MAGA is cast as actual, literal evil. Their hardcore adherents already have a mindset that makes us subhuman.

You affirm that mindset when you infect your perspective with your own dehumanizing language.

It'll resonate with others who think like you do, but it doesn't do anything to convince anyone else.

I think this speaks to a bigger problem of polarizing generalization.

Folks who use "MAGAt" are also quick to paint all Republicans as :Asshat: supporters, but that couldn't possibly be further from the truth.

I absolutely loathe the electeds and influencers who push MAGA hate, but that isn't everyone right of center. It's a tiny minority, and we do those asshats a huge favor when we lump them all together and vastly overinflate their numbers.

Why would any of them listen to our insults?

@kel The moment a side gets "othered" It becomes easy to silo and isolate

Humans are tribal by nature, so the more the other side is perceived as foreign and hostile the harder it is to bring forward any kind of compromise or resolution with those on that side that are reasonable, but have different principles and values

Maga are a particular type of cult extremists, but conservative thought is going to continue in this country, but middle ground has been found before and can be found again
