As you might not know Federal Forest Service workers are NOT considered essential.
And have received furlough notices. National parks, and all facilities, maintain by national forest service workers will be closed..
Please do us all, that live near a national park or national forest, a favor, and just stay away.
The last time this happened, some stupid folks thought they could go and do stupid stuff.
For some it turned out badly.
And no one is going to clean up the mess.
@corlin I'm an experienced thru-hiker and covered 2k miles on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Something to remember when you're out and remote is that in optimal circumstances, including a good set of GPS Coordinates, help can still be 2 hours or more away.
If you're out there, and you're being foolish it very may well cost you or someone else their life.
Plan for the worst, so your trip will be the best, and not a tragedy.
