Well I just made the announcement. My Twitter closes at the end of September.
It feels strange. I worked very hard to build my followers, and in two years it's past time to move on.
Let the healing begin.
10 months ago 9/10. Only a handful of 29K followed me. 90% left within a month.
No regrets whatsoever.
I've seen it advised here that in lieu of deactivating your account on the bird site, instead set it to private and simply don't visit anymore.
If I understand correctly, deactivating means that your old handle there can be recycled/repurposed by someone else.
And setting your profile private should mean that your existing posts there aren't able to be used by outside interests.
Just a thought.
<edited for clarity>
@mikeflstfi @LnzyHou Ill do just that.
There can only be one me. I don't know if the world could handle two of me.
I took that approach over there.
@NiveusLepus
It was hard to part with 10k followers but truth be told, many were not real active and fewer still active at the same time I was on. I joined back when there were 5 character handles available but thats academic when people can so easily mimic being someone else.
@Sr0bi Yeah, beyond the direction that Elon is going which honestly troubles me, it's become a ghost of what it was.
@NiveusLepus I felt honest grief about deactivating my account after ?16? years, but there was simply no other option
@Satchelpooch That's where I'm at. There are people I'm leaving behind that have shown me care and concern.
I never had many, if any friends growing up, and it taught me to value those connections.
But there comes a time where I must look towards a further horizon.
@NiveusLepus I’m so much more peaceful since I’ve left that site.
@nopuppet_007 I've been very happy here. No one has come down on me for my eccentricity. ^_^
What's more I have made many affirming friends.
