@TheCard Smoking isn't 'cool'. That's like saying suicide or manslaughter is cool.
@TrueBloodNet @TheCard There is that old chestnut of a saying thought... You can't spell manslaughter without laughter...
@TrueBloodNet @TheCard You ever post, immediately spot the typo before realizing that was way darker of a joke than you wanted to make?
@TrueBloodNet @TheCard That's fair. The whole smoking though, I'm an 80s kid, and rewatching all the old movies... It was everywhere. I can understand why its so ingrained that it is even though it isn't.
@TrueBloodNet @TheCard Yeah, COPD killed my grandfather, so you'll get no argument from me. It's horrible what it does.
@NiveusLepus @TheCard I'm sorry for your loss. May you both be well. :)
@TrueBloodNet @TheCard And I'm sorry for your loss as well. We honor their lives by holding onto the lessons they left us, taught and shown.
@NiveusLepus @TrueBloodNet You may have inferred as much, but this was intended to be tongue-in-cheek and in no way meant to offend. I don't regard smoking as cool. My mother did it most of her life, and it likely contributed to the cardiac issues that killed her.
@TheCard @NiveusLepus Ah, good to know although I mourn your loss.
I find adding a /s or </snark> tag to clarify my meaning when I'm trying to be tongue-in-cheek on a medium where no one can hear my voice or see my face helps. I sometimes forget, but I do try. :)
@NiveusLepus @TheCard I 'understand' that the tobacco industry, which often paid for product placement in movies, was very successful in making it look 'cool'. But watching both my parents die because my mom smoked like a fiend cured me of that illusion.
