@LnzyHou You think America is "waking up" ??
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider The dawn always comes
There is so much that is bleak right now, but hope shines like stars in the sky. We have all these people, scared yes, concerned definitely, but we all care, we're all focused, and we are all together.
That, to me, is reason for joy in the night.
@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou
Given we are living finite lives, the peaks and troughs of the wave the politicians exploit and foist upon all of us can mean some people miss that dawn. The GOP and Christians never seem to learn. You can only plunge and compact a cannon so much before you explode another Woodstock, just a matter of time before all of these folks face the title wave of rejection but I'll probably be gone. At least I saw it as a cub.
@MidnightRider @LnzyHou Something that has helped me cope is the pendulum theory. My Dad raised me with it.
Society swings between extremes of conservative and liberal, with each swing, things move a little further forward, and then some of that distance is given back, but there is always some progress remaining.
We seem to be on a back swing, and as a minority person (LBTQIA+) it's terrifying, but I also have hope it is temporary, and in the allies that stand with me.
@MidnightRider @LnzyHou 150 years ago you could buy a person in this country.
60 years ago, you could keep someone from voting based on their skin color.
30 years ago, your sex at birth determined if you could marry your partner or not.
It's getting better, very slowly, but it is.
@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou I got news for you, you can still buy a human.
@MidnightRider @LnzyHou You can, it's a global black market industry, but there's whole organs of government dedicated to fighting that, and on the whole, as a society it is seen as abominable.
