battled with the Lawn Police today. heard a dispatch radio outside my house, thought i was being SWATted, walked out to find a strange man in my backyard who demanded my ID so he could write a ticket for my "foot high weeds." it's June. it's rained every day this week. it's Thursday. everybody on the street has seed heads, but he chose me.

he chose poorly. i called his boss. if he can't tell the difference between dereliction and a work in progress, he needs to be retrained.

If you are looking to get rid of grass and or unwanted plant life. Cardboard. It keeps things from growing and works as a weed barrier. Plus it is biodegradable. Win. Win.

@MrsBentoBako yep. that's what i'm doing. i also use panels from an old privacy fence to smother grass too. i go out once a season, move the panels to a new area and mulch the bare spot. then i throw some clover seed on it, and when that's done and the mulch is breaking down, i plant in the perennials i've propagated. slow process.

i get the mulch by the dumptruck load --free-- through chipdrop.
