Oof. Made my therapist cry too. Is that supposed to happen? Love that level of empathy though. 😳😬
Disturbing to me. Therapists should not be meeting your sadness with their own. Perhaps she’s has similar unhealed issues?
@LnzyHou maybe so. Gonna check with my sister on that. She’s a licensed therapist… it was a bit jarring, considering this is the stand in for my therapist who’s out on maternity leave. I miss her so much right now but I’m so damn happy for her.
People don’t realize they have the right to ask if therapists have done their own work? And the nature of that work? If they refuse, I refuse.
I learned this from a great therapist I worked with weekly for 5+ years.

Crying with the client is way past empathy. It’s unhealed issues of their own.
