I hate the subscription model for apps. What happened to the good old, buy it once and never again? Duck no, I’m not paying a subscription equaling >$60 a year for any app. Not. Any. App.
@MotherDucker Exactly. Just say no. I've messaged several developers who switched to subscription models, telling them I love their app, and would happily pay for it, but I won't be switching.
I'm perfectly happy paying for a version, and then paying again for an upgrade with new features later. But, if you deactivate the version I paid for to force a subscription, your app is dead to me.
I'm OK paying a subscription for a service that has ongoing computing/storage costs (like CoSo).
@kay_dub Okay, lol. I get IMMENSE value from CoSo and I definitely don’t mind paying for CoSo pro. I suppose I should amend to say that this is the only one. 😏
Likewise
@MotherDucker LOL...
For CoSo, there are real ongoing server costs that need to be paid for, and I'm willing to help with those.
I pay Apple for cloud storage, and DreamHost and Digital Ocean for servers/storage every month, no problems with that.
But paying to rent an application? Nope. I think the subscription backlash is well underway, thanks to every audio/video streaming service, and Adobe showing you what that world looks like.
@MotherDucker Right
