It hurts my feelings that I have to send my kid with a fully disposable packed lunch tomorrow. Even the water bottle. I get that they donā€™t want to have to worry about angry parents if a kid leaves their water bottle on the field trip. But Iā€™ve tried extra hard not to let my kid guzzle additional microplastics.

Wouldnā€™t it be a better learning experience if they carried their reusable water bottles? Like you need to stay hydrated on a walk, and on a nature trail no less. Also personal responsibility!

@MookyTroubadour yep. Theyā€™re doing a walking field trip to a playground then the public library. Itā€™s nuts to me that theyā€™re having them bring one throw away water bottle. She will drink it all up before even reaching the lunch spot.

@MotherDucker I used to live with someone who summered as a camp counselor. Every year he and the other counselors would divy up the things the kids left behind. Which included dozens of water bottles. Kids can be forgetful.

The camp was closed the rest of the year and no one there to get lost and found items from unless it was like, medications or something that was left.

@MotherDucker If you refuse to comply would they not let him go?
