@MakerWerks I have been suspicious of speaker makers since Bose sold so many of those Acoustmass turds. Those had a clear dead zone at 160Hz or so.
A/B testing is the way.
@MookyTroubadour My other monitors in there are a pair of passive Tannoy PBM 6.5. I'm apparently a fan of somewhat obscure and underrated speakers.
@MakerWerks Tannoy were formerly UK made, yes? Now made in China? I hate that trend.
@MookyTroubadour That's happened to so many brands. I purchased mine in the mid-eighties, when they were still a UK based company. I had to replace one of the tweeters a few years back. I ordered 2 and replaced them in both cabinets, so they would still be 'matched'.
@MakerWerks @MookyTroubadour Same here. I have several pair as 'spares', and also run a subwoofer with them as my desk system. Plenty good sound, but I have to admit I've been eyeing these as well as some Andrew Jones models and ELACs. Or maybe I'll just have some fun and mod the Minimus 7s. 🙂
@MookyTroubadour I still run a pair of Radio Shack Minimus 7 speakers as an alternate set of nearfield monitors in my DAW based bedroom studio. I've owned them since they were new.
