Bought an air fryer yesterday (Philips Avance Collection XXL) on a recommendation of a friend. I always thought of them as those gadgets that you buy, use for a week and then stow away in a dark place never to be seen again, until you sell them for a thruppence at a garage sale five to ten years later.

I may have been proven wrong. Initial tests over a couple of days have been very encouraging.

Tests will continue over the next several days, but I’m surprised.

@Kryptos I figured the same. I got it with some credit card points (had to choose items from a catalog) so had nothing to lose. My spouse thinks it's too big a pain to clean, but I use it probably twice a month on average. Saves time and electricity over big oven and doesn't heat house too much in summer. Have even used the rotisserie a couple times (now that's a messy cleanup) with good results, when I can find a chicken small enough. We have a NuWave Brio (front panel flaking out 2y in).

You can buy a silicon liner for the air fryer that makes cleaning a lot easier. The liner goes in the dishwasher and the sticky stuff comes right off.
