Rail Workers Tried to Warn Us the Ohio Train Derailment Would Happen

February 8, 2023

An inter-union alliance of rail workers says the train wreck happened due to antiquated regulation and corporate malpractice.

The fiery train derailment that led to thousands being forced to evacuate their homes in East Palestine, Ohio, didn’t have to happen. This is what the workers of Railroad Workers United, or RWU, inter-union caucus argue.

You know who cancelled the new regulations put in place by the federal government to reduce this from happening?? You guessed it.. *rump and the republicans..

@JazzCrafter @MikeBarbre

from the article:

Legislation was passed under President Obama that made it a legal requirement for trains carrying hazardous flammable materials to have ECP brakes, but this was rescinded in 2017 by the Trump administration.

The National Transportation Safety Board, a federal agency responsible for investigating rail accidents, told The Lever that the Ohio train that derailed was not fitted with ECP brakes.

Sooo sad.. we support our rural Ohioans.. even if they may be mostly republican in the area.. they will never choose to get to the reason this happened there.. I want everyone safe, no matter where they are ..
