Does anyone remember when they broke up the Ma Bell monopoly? How about we do that with a lot of other companies?
Why is PG&E the only option in Cali? What about oil companies? Facebook?
I think I’m channeling John Oliver 😮
We could stand to break up damn near every major brand, break those pieces up, and then break those pieces up.

Every Power company gets split up into individual power plants, and one company handles the distribution grid itself
Every product that has historically advertised under its own brand gets split - so for conglomerates that own different restaurant chains, each chain becomes its own business. For things like Frito-Lay, every type of snack brand under that gets split - so Lays become its own thing, Cheetos become its own thing, etc
Don’t even get me started on Pepsi and Unilever
U want capitalism? Then by Jove, you’ll get your fucking capitalism. Every single product now has to compete under its own merits against literally everything else, not as a tiny part of some giant conglomerate.
(Not you, @Meri , I mean people who worship capitalism without knowing what it really is)
Didn't the break up of Ma Bell effectively make the Bell group of companies more powerful under a rebranding/buyout and consolidation as AT&T, cutting out even more competition?
Thought there was a bunch of stories about this. But best I found with a quick google was this..
@PinkFloydBoxSet Yes, but at least now with cell phones you can choose from a bunch of carriers. Back then, it was Ma Bell or two cans and some string
@Meri baby formula makers!
