Going to order my seeds for next year's garden and buy some more jars now, as it irritates me to no end when panic buyers who haven't done a thing to prepare for a garden go crazy purchasing.
I see it coming.
@JeSsA
Also laying in a bit more flour, yeast, and oil; as well as beans and rice.
I want to have enough that my grown young adults can shop at the store of Mom if they need.
@MelissaHDavis love this idea.
@JeSsA
The store of Mom? Began during COVID when all three lost jobs while in school, and has continued as a way of helping as they each launch themselves into the world. I have nonperishable food, paper products, cleaning supplies, and laundry supplies
The only rule is return the canning jars.
@JeSsA @catlynne333
It's really an extension of my canning and food storage -- my goal is to have all nonperishable needs for several months.
I'm not a "prepper."
I have had sickness, unemployment, and disaster in my life and being able to take care of mine is important.
@MelissaHDavis @catlynne333 very smart. As someone who has gone thru both sickness & unemployment, I think this is a brilliant thing to do.
@JeSsA
And don't get me started on how tariffs will affect the produce section ...
No bananas
no grapes
no avocados
no limes or lemons
@MelissaHDavis YUP. It's going to be a disaster, on so many levels. People have no idea what they have done.
@MelissaHDavis it's for sure coming. Preparing for folks to go more the homestead route once these deportations begin and we lose those crucial farm workers.
