At the VA with my hubby. So many older men and women of shuffling steps using canes or in wheelchairs.
Hard to recall that they were once young and fit, rucking 70 lb. packs, driving large wheeled or tracked vehicles, listening for sonar pings, landing planes on ships, or jumping out of planes and helicopters.
Time marches on. The old soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines move a little slower now.

Absolutely.
So true. I’ve learned many of the falls seniors have are caused by out-dated prescription glasses. We think if we can see through them, we don’t have a vision issue.
I learned one of my eyes had deteriorated so badly in a year, that it was affecting my depth perception. Thus, misjudging stairs, curbs, parking lots, etc.
It is not uncommon in a senior bldg to hear about folks falling. When I ask about most recent eye exam, it’s usually 2-5 yrs since last exam.
