Today's is Duke Ellington's "Take the 'A' Train." Composed in 1939, this 1962 video is a wonderful version.
Ellington, from D.C., now has a performing arts HS named after him that he could not have attended as a teen -- the former Western High (family alma mater).
When taking my son to visit Columbia, we did take the 'A' train and I hummed along ...
