I check in on "the news" every few days. Standing back from the chaos is much better than roiling in the chaos
I started mindfulness/meditation last year and gained new ways of seeing things to great positive effect.
I started by mindfully observing my cats interactions. Then i had breakthrough w/meditation. The positive results have been notice by my family. I don't snap or get triggered.
I didn't stop taking zoloft (also lifesaving) << needed for ocd researching
