The unintended result of deactivating my old account is that there's no way I can ever retrieve it.
When I was on Twitter, I was given a 30 day buffer. If I reactivated my account within 30 days, I could just resume as normal.
Based on what I've read, retrieving my old account is impossible because of security reasons. That's something I never considered would happen. I guess I was just too used to how things worked on Twitter.
@Magnetron1 On the bright side, we don't have piles of ads, a CEO that's insane, and loads of racism, bigotry, hate, and other stuff.
Part of why your account goes away when you tell it to go away is because your right to be forgotten is honored here. When you delete your data, it's actually deleted.

At any rate, I'm glad that a place that actually takes people's data seriously exists. And of course it certainly helps that the CEO here is very good at what he does.
