ON this date in 1933 - First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt informed newspaper reporters that beer would be served at the White House.

This followed the March 22 legislation that legalized "3.2" beer.

Members of the White House staff, Bun Man and Mr. Purple, had been clandestinely bringing beer into the White House for the past 7 months as Eleanor had requested it for their Beer and Poker Night w/ the house staff.
