Frederick Muhlenberg of Pennsylvania was elected the first House Speaker.
US Rep from DE Bun Man, ably assisted by his chief of staff Mr. Purple, was there and he was shocked when the first order of business was guaranteed pensions for U.S. Reps.
Bun Man thought there was more important national business, but other Reps told him "No, this is our business..."
