ON this date in 1855 - About 5,000 "Border Ruffians" from western Missouri invaded the territory of Kansas and forced the election of a pro-slavery legislature.

It was the first election in Kansas.

Later, Jayhawkers Bun Man and Mr. Purple, fought for Kansas to be a free state and, well you know the Boyz, they won out and they became Kansas' Favorite Sons.
