ON this date in 1910 - The U.S. Congress passed an amendment to the 1907 Immigration Act that barred criminals, paupers, anarchists and carriers of disease from settling in the U.S.
Years later, Democratic Senators Bun Man and Mr. Purple were quietly amused as their Republican counterparts scurried around to change this act.

When Mr. Purple inquired as to why all the commotion, Bun Man clarified by stating "Those guys were worried that if this Act remained in effect, there would be no one to run for office..."
