Many of us learned in school, at least secondary school, that the best government is one run by a benevolent despot.

We need to revisit benevolence, as there seems to be no shortage of despots.

Perhaps, we embrace benevolence and build a world network of despotic benevolence.

@Madken65 Really? I'm surprised, but I went to secondary school in Australia. We were all schooled in rank choice voting and proportional representation.

@peterquirk

In the USA, we've just toyed with Equality, we never defined it in the Constitution, actually government policy supported exclusionary acts for many years.

The USA never trusted democracy, hence why we 'cherish' the fantasy of a benevolent despot.

@Madken65 Australia, on the other hand, invented the secret ballot and was the first country to grant women the vote.
