ON this date in 1943 - During World War II, the first all American air raid against Germany took place when about 50 bombers attacked Wilhlemshaven.

Leading the raid was Flight Cmdr. Bun Man w/ his trusty bombardier Mr. Purple.

Mr. P slightly miscalculated the timing of the bomb bay doors and well, the bombs passed Wihlemshaven and landed squarely in Jade Bay.

The rest of the planes followed w. requisite aerial photography.

Two weeks later, the entire Wing received medals for the raid as this was the tightest shot group on record (homage to Catch-22)...
