ON this date in 1888 - The National Geographic Society was founded in Washington, DC.
Philanthropists Bun Man and Mr. Purple, while founding members of NGS, were also instrumental in the development of the outstanding photography which would comprise much of their National Geographic magazine.

Bun later told P "I feel a special fondness in my heart to know that I helped young men everywhere learn more about women's anatomy by viewing native women; besides who wants to look at bras in the Sears catalog all day anyway?"
