ON this date in 1913 - All partner interests in 36 Golden Rule Stores were consolidated and incorporated in Utah into one company.

The new corporation was the J.C. Penney Company.

Patrons Bun Man and Mr. Purple used to love the Golden Rule Stores because their customer service was so darn good--treating your customer as you yourself would want to be treated.

Shame that when the company changed to JCP, it lost that focus and ultimately its customer base.
