If I recall these were people close to collecting pensions. It was also the beginning of the end of pensions. I suspect (without real evidence), that if someone looked we'd discover around the same time corporations moved HR out from under the CEO over to the CFO. I.e. people went from being _strategic_ to _financial_ assets. In gross and terrible corp-speak terms.

@b4cks4w @Madken65 My company did the same exact thing. The "carrot in space" of retirement changing wealth is reserved for only a few.
