😒 2 students who attended the school I am subbing for today were killed over the weekend in a car accident. The school has brought in extra grief counselors, and half of my first-period class is already down in the counseling department. 😒

Always tough when this happens, when I was a school principal, we always gave support initially and carried it through for about a week, but kept focused on returning students to normal classes as soon as empathically possible.

The trouble was always the same kids who avoided classes were always the ones who seemed to be most distraught about the loss of fellow students.

Often, we had to tell those students, they needed to continue their grieving at home.
