Wee warning for fellow :

One of the *last* things I do, as a professional editor, is run a doc I'm reviewing through Word's spelling-and-grammar check.

I'm not using it to catch errors, exactly (though I'm always open to having missed something), but I want to see what the client will see if they put their work through that tool as well.

And what really sucks?
This tool has gotten *worse*, not better, with so-called AI.

Use it sparingly to sharpen your prose!

@MLClark

I've noticed it making more bad suggestions, for sure.

@MLClark I still use Word 2010, because:

(1) I don't trust the new tools, but mostly ...

(2) I'm cheap and don't want to pay for an upgrade. 😉

@MLClark it's downright awful. The only reason I have it on is to catch those moments when I accidently add an extra space. Plus Word will insist that "free reign" is correct, when it NEVER is. Never. Ever.
