Being pro-pluralist democracy isn't easy during war, when everyone wants to flatten groups to single POVs. But it's necessary to defend our full humanity.
Today there was an ultranationalist rally in Israel backed by gov't extremists, calling to resettle Gaza. This is on the back of extremists blocking aid trucks for months.
The US is not the only state in inner turmoil.
This is why we stand for democracy, not hivemind reductions of any given people to solo POVs.

It's also very hard to sustain in apartheid, where you have one set of laws for one people and another for another.
@MLClark anti-pluralist feed the human tendency for group identification and seed divisions to divide and conquer.
Woof!
@MLClark They're showing the entire world, openly, exactly who and what they are. Some people still aren't paying attention or are simply ignoring it,glossing over it,because they think the same twisted way too.
I had to block quite a few on here with that same outlook. You can't have nuanced dialogue in the midst of war crimes and crimes against humanity, many of which have been continuing for over seventy years now. Anger and shouting at the top of your lungs for it to stop is the only humane response available to us. Calling it our for what it is—that's a responsibility.
@q00w2 Plus I've only seen supporters of one particular side calling for the complete extermination of the other.🤷♂️Along with the accusations that we're some things that we're absolutely not. It's done in an attempt to silence very valid criticism but unfortunately, for them, that particular tactic doesn't work on me.
@MLClark
💯 They abhor the spotlight being cast on their misdeeds with a passion. It's why they murder protestors by bulldozing over them, use snipers on journalists etc., and fought so hard to try to get ANY criticism of the state of Israel considered anti–semitism in dictionary definitions. Just think of the Orwellian absurdity of that!
They're also pissing over the memory of those lost to the holocaust by using them as cover for them doing exactly the same thing done to them.
@q00w2 The thing is,they fully expect people to believe the bollocks they spout. Some do,some always will because they're not the brightest bulb in the pack but now,a huge swathe of people are seeing them for what they are. And,as you rightly point out, they don't like that one little bit.Anyone believing anything that they put out after they've been proven to be lying, had the vast majority of their "facts" debunked,go live on tv to state their intentions clearly and have their own... @MLClark
We call that 'getting high on your own farts' … The religious component ("we are God's Chosen People") doesn't help matters either. 🙄 The world would be a lot better off without religion—sad tale of misery and cruelty from the get go.
@q00w2 It's been used to excuse the worst kind of atrocities for centuries.High on the smell of their own shite in Liverpool👍😄
What they fail to comprehend too is that the entire sane population of the world sees them cheering on the murder, mutilation and purposeful starvation of civilians. They also don't get that by doing that, they're cheering on the demise of the country that they support.A death cult, pure and simple. @MLClark
I think that's the fate of any country built on lies, hypocrisy and the othering of anyone who doesn't fit the definition of privileged or chosen. The US is certainly starting to learn that lesson, albeit slowly.
When the foundations are weak, the structure will not stand.
It will implode from it's own internal contradictions.
Or as my great-grandmother liked to say "the truth will out."
Right? As I've been saying for a while now, the tail has started trying to wag the dog. It's a ridiculous price to pay for the upkeep of a client state predicated on a colonial apartheid, just so the oil barons can sleep easier at night.🤦
But that too will change … they all see the writing on the wall for oil …
We need to hit critical mass before it's simply too late … for many things and reasons.
Sure taken them long enough to get there. You'd think all the spying and industrial espionage would have clued them in. 🙄
Yeah, it's a "bad look" for America. A "bad look" for the election. 🙄
Rightly so. But let's see how much foreign money again floods our system to tilt the scales. 🙄
@q00w2 That'll never end until people of integrity start getting elected into positions of power.I know,I know, you can stop laughing now,I'm fully aware that I shouldn't hold my breath.Top to bottom, the whole system is corrupted and compromised by foreign money for foreign clout. Not very patriotic to put foreign interests ahead of the wishes of your own electorate for something as crass as mere money......or is it just me thinks that way? @MLClark
I doubt we're the only ones, but even though I know the "two sides" over here are both guilty of it, I can for sure point you to the side that's the intense focus of the foreign douchebaggery at the moment. 🙄
I've always been amazed at Americans waving the flag and shouting about "freedom" and how the USA is built on it and *about it* how they utterly fail to recognize that the entire thing was built on displacing and killing millions, robbing them of their rights and land, and enslaving millions of others to work for nothing more than a small meal and a beating … 🤷♀️
Alternate realities, alternative 'facts' … People living in bubbles rarely know it, and if they do they rarely want to come out of it. The guy with the pin is always the enemy.
Yeah, there a few obviously very low–hanging fruit: when someone tells you who they are, believe them.
@MLClark That dude is a trash human being.
Ben Gvir? Not the only one, unfortunately. The Knesset has been the scene these past few months of many horrific statements that would... well, quite actually not shock anyone who follows US Congress, too.
Some people in politics just want to see the world burn.
The trick is making sure there are enough *other* people around to hold the first group at bay.
And remembering that all governments, everywhere, are susceptible to backsliding into great cruelty if we ever lose our way.
@MLClark Yes... I am aware of most of the rest too. Something about that dude though really irks me. More than some of the others for some reason.
Agreed that all governments are susceptible. 👍🏻
@MLClark The Guardian has reported that Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner advocates "resettlement" of Gaza civilians to the Negev Desert so that the Gaza "waterfront property" can be developed.

It should go without saying, but my heart is with everyone striving to make their state more democratically vibrant, robust, and safe for all.
Pluralism is HARD to sustain, because different groups in a democracy will always have different ideas about how to achieve the aforementioned aims, & those ideas won't always mesh or play well together.
But we *have* to strive for a world of more constructive dissent.
The alternative is a world in which we're endlessly fending off the worst extremes.
