Second confession:
I have never seen an episode of The Sopranos. Should I rectify that this year, or accept that I missed the cable-TV boat?

And I probably won't' watch it. I don't watch horror or violence.
That's why I checked out hastily from The Boys. I didn't need another show illustrating "Men Behaving Badly". I also couldn't stand Mad Men for that reason. People claimed that it didn't affect them, but sales of the liquors and apparel used on that show shot up in the early years. The attitudes permeate our reality the more we give them any airspace in our lives - and I just had no interest in adding that toxicity to my own.
I haven't either. And.... I've never seen The Godfather movies. #CoSoConfessions

I think it's contemporary with Lost and Breaking Bad.
Breaking Bad is fantastic, and the colombian adaptation as well (Metastasis)
The Sopranos is the origin of later series like Breaking Bad -- though I preferred Better Call Saul by a wide margin, when it came out.
In the interim, there were others, but The Sopranos has always felt to me like a reflection of a cultural moment that I missed. (I loved The Shield, though!)

@MLClark I haven't either but I keep meaning to rectify that. I also need to finish The Wire and Oz.
@MLClark I recently gave it a rewatch, but deliberately skipped the final season which, IMHO, wasn't very good.
