Choose your reason for being committed from this fine chart of asylum admissions, 1864-1889, will you? What're you in for?

@MLClark

First of all, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

@LiseL

HAH! I KNEW YOU WOULD!!! πŸ’« 😊

They'd better assign you a bed in the library, though. Otherwise this would be a very tough experience. :(

Posted in a thread shared by academics on another social media platform. Every now and then I see hilarious lists of reasons for death and desease in other centuries pop up online, and they always make me wonder (worry?) what we say today that will have future generations howling, too. πŸ™ƒ

@LiseL

*disease: TIL that my phone autocorrects the English "disease" to Spanish "desease", a reflexive case for the verb to wish / to want. Huh! Well, TMYK. πŸ™ƒ

@MLClark

True! Since we're already looking at the uncharted absurdities of our own time in disbelief, can you even imagine what our survivors will think? 😬

@LiseL

Have you seen those videos where Gen Z is shown pictures or given objects from the 60s to 90s and asked to guess their function? Hilariously mortifying. The future is going to look at us with pity and bafflement in equal measure, I'm sure!
