๐ Hey, #CoSo!
In a recent call with @th3j35t3r and a bunch of rad fellow #CoSonauts, some of us floated the idea of a #CoSoBookClub. Nonfiction, topical, and with a mind to developing a shared, robust vocabulary around key social issues.
Any interest in such a thing? If so, here are a few polls about the idea, to see what we can make of it:
#1. How often would be good to meet? Using the same book for a meet-up...
@MLClark We have a CoSo book club. You can find it at #CosoUnbanned
All are welcome to join.
@misslovelymess Oh, that's fantastic! What's the subject matter? Are you focussing more on fiction or nonfiction, or whatever strikes the group's fancy that month? Was there a bit of a learning curve to any part of running it on CoSo?
@MLClark We just finished our first book, โAnxious Peopleโ, and are getting ready to have our discussion.
Waiting on someone to finish.
Anyone can suggest any book, and we vote on it to select the book we are reading. And there was a vote on the name. We just pin the #CosoUnbanned as a column and thatโs how we communicate. There are instructions on how to pin as a post in the hashtag.
@Armchaircouch @misslovelymess Ditto here! Great to see a range of different interest groups flourishing on #CoSo!
That's a great point, & I think it would help if I clarified that through a pinned post for our future chosen hashtag:
No need to read the book to join in the conversation! It might help, but we're all ultimately coming together to share in knowledge and learn from one another with the resources at hand.
It might even become common practice for someone to summarize the book for anyone on the call who hasn't read it, and to use that as a starting point for further discourse.
That would probably open it up to others, perhaps! Come to think of it if the books are able to be made PDF friendly, they could also be listened to with the audio reader on a smart phone. Iโm not sure if books can be made to be that way yet, but if thereโs some technology out there that does it that would also open up the ability to digest the information! @MLClark
if it does splinter to have one focused on the issues you have mentioned, I would not be able to do any reading (because Iโm focused on my career building and studies related to that, only so many hours in the day!), but I would love to be in on the discussions for learning & possible networking activism benefits @MLClark
