@rych @Lulz4l1f3 It's always 'they' to describe stupid ass shit like this. If my mother didn't scream & get threatening in her behaviour when challenged, i would come right out and ask her just who 'they' are, but it's really not worth the risk (or the bother of trying to pretend she isn't batshit crazy when she answers). I suspect that MAGA's have a lot of narcissists in their ranks. Would explain why they believe the unbelievably weird stuff like this.
@Christmas_Snow @Lulz4l1f3 it also made me think of some of those fringe YouTube channels like that spiritscience bell end. Uses lots of "they" or "top scientists discovered" "world changing something something" but never manage to name anyone, link to a paper etc etc it boils my piss that they can hide behind their bullshit statements with such a ease.
@rych @Lulz4l1f3 On one hand, we have free speech (or in Canada, freedom of expression), but on the other hand some of the stuff said leads to dangerous ideologies and spreading of those lies. We live in a time where (thanks to the internet) the 'crazy cult leader' has the equivalent of his/her own daily talk show and is gaining new 'viewers' (followers) every day! Something needs to be done, but WHAT and HOW are the questions and problems we have to figure out. =/
@Christmas_Snow @Lulz4l1f3 it's a tough one, because free speech is really important, but the internet has morphed the whole delivery system. I've no idea how it could be improved however. Calling people out on bullshit doesn't seem to work now. They just hide behind "don't tread on my beliefs" etc etc
