Oh, I found my petty hill to die on.

Orcas aren't whales.

Orcas belong to the same family as dolphins and porpoises (Delphinidae) and they are not whales.

@DyDave I didn't think that I'd be upset about poems where orcas are called whales, but here we are. Learning something new every day.

@DyDave I mean, yes, but since I decided to be obsessed with everything Ocean at age 2 it's hard to keep my mouth shut.

Please note that I said something random on here and did not correct anyone's poetry or respond to anything in my timeline. It's progress of a sort.

@TrueBloodNet Despite my degree for marine biology hanging over there on the wall I was a Very Good Person and kept my thoughts to a random aside on the internet where I know the person doesn't follow me.

@LianaBrooks You're very kind. LOL I'm jealous of your degree :) That's what I wanted to be when I grew up but instead I went down the biology/chemistry road (plus a random degree in Anthro LOL)

@TrueBloodNet My degree is in marine bio, I paid for it by working for a newspaper, and now I write and edit fiction for a living. It's a degree. I still follow what's going on in that field. But it's not a field where I had options to move forward when I had an unexpected pregnancy so... yeah... I have complicated feelings about it but I still love all things marine.

@TrueBloodNet It's fascinating and I love the oceans and my ability to read scientific data. It's amazing how often that comes up as a parent.
