SIL is pissed that we said we don't want to host the holiday's this year. We've hosted every holiday meal, for a decade now. We're just kind of done with all the work every time. We want to relax over the holidays too. SIL suggested, 'how about if we just do desserts'. to which I replied, 'sure, what time should we come over to your place then?'
You would have thought I just took a dump in her lap with the look I got.
Peopling is exhausting. I need to build that cabin in the woods to go hide.

The look she gave me said it all though. She had no intention of doing any work. Was pretty much still inviting herself and others over.
One of the reasons I suggested skipping hosting to my wife was to skip some of the drama that comes along each time.

@Kurtroedeger reminds me of an in-law I have who we used to visit twice or three times a year while our kids were youngerā€¦ because weā€™re five hoursā€™ drive north, we always did the rounds of visits on holidays but after a decade, it was tiresome and invited them to come to us instead. Itā€™s been another decade and they still havenā€™t reciprocated. So Hubby no longer feels the need to even try with them. A little sad.

@Kurtroedeger

Tell family you're going on vacation for thanksgiving.
Maybe even actually go šŸ˜œ

@Kurtroedeger Indeed. Yes I like to see fam but prefer them in their own space, not mine. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

That being said, hosting the hubsā€™ fam per usual, and maybe Darling Daughterā€™s Boyfriend and Maybe Darling Sonā€™s girlfriend this year. Who knows. Love the Desserts only idea.
