first order of Business for the House in 2025 is electing a leader. At that point every elected house member has no job, no staff. Technically no pay, office, or benefits until a house leader is chosen.
the only thing they can do is vote for a house leader
it will be Hakeem Jeffries. and once it happens, and his little speech, there are TONS of automatic procedural things that happen, one of those is certifying the election
