Currently starting my Umbra chase. First pitstop. 250 miles to go for rest. Might have to travel a ways tomorrow to find clear skies
Arrived at my starting base for #2024Eclipse
Weather looks like crap. All around me. Why couldn't the clouds take the day off?
Anxiety rising
Off to my #Eclipse viewing location
It's 200 miles to the site,
we've got a full tank of gas,
half a pack of cigarettes,
it will get dark
and I have solar sunglasses.
When totality is happening. you have a lifetime of experience crammed into a few minutes. Time is limited and there is so much you are trying to process.
I was just taking pictures blindly, adjusting my telescope to center the image.
This is my Best shot of the #2024Eclipse despite the noise, haze, and high clouds.
✅ Baily's beads
✅ Corona
✅ Solar Prominences (Two)
@Kinnison It was my third TSE. Never gets old. Amazing. Completely worth all the stress in advance (planning, weather, coordinating other people, travel).
As before, my cranial cpu borked.
I was using eclipse glasses, my PST (during partial phases) and binos with and without filters
Looking at eclipsed sun for a few moments during totality through un-filtered binos is a sight that will stay with me. The corona, the prominences…
Wow.
